Boolean logic combines "true" and "false" states. In a rack, these are gates: a gate is high (true) from 1 V up, and low (false) below that. This module compares two gates and outputs the result of four operations, as 10 V or 0 V. It is a way to grow a brand new rhythm from two rhythms you already have.
Inputs
- A and B: the two gates to combine (a sequencer output, a comparator, a clock). They are polyphonic: each voice is worked out on its own. An input with nothing plugged in is low.
Outputs
- And: high only when A and B are high at the same moment. It keeps only the hits that land together.
- Or: high as soon as A or B (or both) is high. It merges the two rhythms into one.
- Xor (exclusive or): high when only one of the two is high, but not when both are. It removes the shared hits.
- Not A: the opposite of A, high when A is low. Watch out: with nothing plugged into A, it is low, so this output then stays high all the time.
No knobs: the module only does what you patch into it.
