This module gives a sound a position: which side it comes from, how high and how far away. It has no outputs: it sends the sound straight to the application's output, in addition to any Output modules.
Settings
- Direction: the angle around you, from 0 to 360°. 0° is in front, 90° to the right, 180° behind, 270° to the left.
- Height: from low to high, up to +90° (above your head). Below about −45°, the sound goes no lower.
- Distance: from 0.5 to 20 metres. The further the source, the quieter and duller it gets (air absorbs high frequencies), and the more reverb you hear compared to the direct sound.
Inputs
- In: the sound to place. Polyphonic voices are summed.
- Az: modulates the direction, 36° per volt.
- El: modulates the height, 18° per volt.
- Dist: modulates the distance, 1 volt doubles it.
With nothing plugged into In, the module stays silent.
The rendering
How the position is heard is chosen in the ⚙ settings (the "Output" section): stereo (left-right only, height has no effect), binaural headphones (a 3D impression around your head) or 5.1 / 7.1 multichannel (one speaker per channel; height does not play there).
