1.11.0 · Welcome to the studio
2026-11-01
- New 3D mode: the 3D button opens an evening studio, with two large black cherry cases, a 61-key keyboard, four speakers and records. Same patch, same sound: switch back and forth whenever you like.
- Everything is hands-on: plug in cables (they hang, rest on each other and light up as the signal flows), turn knobs, drag a module to move it, add new ones from the Modules drawer, play the keyboard and the wheels.
- The sound comes from the room’s four speakers and follows your gaze: turn your head and it turns with you. Move towards the screen edges to look around; the wheel brings you closer to the modules.
- Cinematic: the camera wanders around the studio, along the rows and above the cables, for your eyes’ and ears’ delight.
- 3D mode needs a computer with graphics acceleration; the Learn exercises stay in 2D.
1.10.0 · MIDI improvements & feedback
2026-11-01
- Two real wheels left of the keyboard: pitch bend, which springs back to the centre, and modulation, which stays where you leave it. You can play notes and wheels at the same time.
- Modulated knobs show what is really playing: when an envelope, an LFO or the wheel moves a setting, its arc lights up to the value being played, with a glowing trail. On hover: “setting · playing”.
- The VCA level lights up like a level meter while the note plays.
- Several MIDI keyboards: each MIDI→CV picks its keyboard (or the computer) and its channel, and the pitch bend range (2, 12 or 24 semitones).
- Presets played from the keyboard give the mod wheel a role, explained on their card and in a Memo.
1.9.0 · Surrounding
2026-10-31
- New Spatial module: place each sound around you (in front, behind, above, close by or far away), and make it circle with an LFO; its top view shows where it is.
- Three outputs in ⚙ Settings: stereo for speakers, binaural for headphones (real head measurements, University of York), 5.1 / 7.1 if your hardware supports it.
- Two presets: “Circling pads”, three pads crossing around you, and “La sortie”, a real track in three scenes.
- The AI knows the Sampler kit and your own sounds, and can also build drums out of modules.
- Note Grid: switching the Step keeps the pattern’s tempo; the Step can also be set in the editor.
- The welcome guide grows and gains a clickable table of contents.
1.8.0 · Thirty-second notes
2026-10-31
- Note Grid: new Step setting, 1/16 or 1/32. At 1/32, each clock pulse plays two steps: thirty-second notes for rolls and ornaments, with no rewiring.
- The editor and mini grid follow: a beat every 8 steps, snapping to 1/32; swing works on the half step.
1.7.0 · More AI features
2026-10-31
- The AI builds a real song: it saves scenes (intro, verse, chorus, break), arranges them in the Song, then plays it.
- It writes into all four Note Grid pages, for longer melodies.
- It shows you what it’s talking about: a module, a knob or a jack lights up, and the cable to plug is drawn as a dotted line.
- For a real saxophone or a voice, it suggests the Sampler (drop in a recording) or the Audio input.
1.6.0 · Play with AI
2026-10-31
- New AI button: Claude or another AI builds and plays a patch with you (modules, cables, knobs, sequences, notes), and each of its moves can be undone with Ctrl+Z.
- MCP server: an extension to install in Claude Desktop, or npx modularsynth-mcp for Claude Code and other apps. Everything stays on your device.
- WebMCP (experimental): in Chrome 149 and later, browser AI assistants can control the synth directly.
- A small loader at startup, instead of text flashing before the rack.
1.5.0 · Understand by playing
2026-10-31
- New Learn chapter 2: six small experiments on a ready-made instrument that plays by itself.
- Everything is voltage, scaling and inverting modulation, when modulation becomes sound, the shape of a note, notes that always fit, waveforms.
- Do the experiments in any order; the song in the following chapters picks up where chapter 1 left off.
1.4.0 · Learn by listening
2026-10-30
- All four Learn chapters rewritten: each step tells you what you’re about to hear (“Listen”), and every move can be heard right away.
- You sweep knobs from end to end to understand what they do; “Hold a note” keeps the sound going while you turn.
- Notes to trace as dotted cells in the Note Grid, and music that always fits: the bass belongs to every chord.
- A sequencer plugged into a running clock locks onto the current bar by itself.
1.3.0 · MIDI clock
2026-10-30
- Clock: a MIDI switch to follow the clock from Ableton, Logic or a drum machine. The host’s tempo shows up, Start goes back to the first beat, Stop stops, Continue resumes.
- To play along with an app: send its MIDI to the browser (loopMIDI on Windows, IAC bus on Mac), then turn on Sync for that output in its preferences.
1.2.0 · MIDI links
2026-10-30
- All your MIDI Learn links at a glance: click « MIDI » at the bottom right, one ✕ per link or « Forget all » (Ctrl+Z brings them back).
- Presets in tune: the FM bell plays the key you press, and the « Bass and drums » chords fit the bass line.
- « Phased pad » is truly polyphonic (a released note stops), and « Sidechain pump » plays chords.
1.1.0 · Pages
2026-10-30
- Note Grid and Trigger Seq: four pages A to D per module, to move from one pattern to another (verse, chorus, break).
- The chosen page starts at the end of the current loop, so you stay in time. With the clock stopped, it switches right away.
- In the Note Grid editor: one tab per page, and « Copy the page to… » to start from a variation.
- Scenes remember the chosen page; an empty page plays silence.
1.0.0 · Launch
