The VCO 2 makes the same four waveforms as the VCO, with two extra tricks: hard sync and through-zero linear FM.
Controls
- Tune, Fine: like the VCO (octaves, semitones). PW: pulse width of the square.
- FM: depth of the exponential FM input (at full, +1 V = one octave), for sweeps.
- Lin FM: depth of the linear FM, from 0 to 4. This is the modulation index: with a sine modulator at the same pitch as the VCO 2 (1:1 ratio), the index is exactly Lin FM.
Inputs
- V/Oct: the pitch. FM: the exponential input.
- Lin: the linear FM modulator. With ±5 V, the frequency moves by ±Lin FM times the pitch. Above 1, it goes below zero (through-zero): the wave runs backwards, which gives the metallic tone. The amount follows the pitch, so the tone stays the same across the keyboard if the modulator follows the note.
- Sync: on each rising edge of the incoming signal (above 1 V), the oscillator restarts from zero. Patch in another VCO, the leader (or master): the follower takes the leader's pitch, but its tone depends on the ratio between the two frequencies.
Outputs
- Sin, Tri, Saw, Sqr: at ±5 V, cleaned of aliasing, sync included (the reset is a sudden jump). To do this, it delays the sound by one sample (0.02 ms).
